Picapp website was user friendly. however most of the time it came up with paparazi pictures of celebrities. i searched for nike and pics of the greys anatomy star came up, so tht wasnt fun. so after this i tried travel and found this picture of Sierra Nevada Mountains are seen from Air Force One flying north towards Seattle from Los Angeles while carrying U.S. President Barack Obama. the mountians look so beautiful.
Manukau libraries can benefit from Picapp free and legal access to millions of pictures which we can use in our displays, websits and other material we use for promotion.
i'l def promote picapp to customers looking for pictures to use in their assignments or other projects.

Week 1 : Box.net - online file storage
box.net was easy to use. the website allows users one gb of free storage which is pretty small. if picturs are being stored, we would need to resize them in order to save space. customers could find this process tricky.
however i would def promote this site to customers, especially those who dont have external storage devices to save their work. this way customers will have somewhere safe to save their work and not on the learnet computers.
for personal use, i normally use my email inbox. i would def need over 1gb lol

Week 6 : Facebook - playing nicely with others
facebook is a great social networking tool, i can keep uptodate with friends without even asking them wats up..which does have its negatives as people no longer need to see a person to catchup.
as for library purposes, it think its a great idea. we just have to get customers involved. i reckon our best feature is the discussion board. people interested in sharing books or looking for a book to read will find them very useful. user-friendly, i think majority of people will catch on easily.
i had a look at wellington's city library, nt much was happening on there. manukau's was wayyy better (dnt tell them i said that lol)

Week 5 : Music files and mp3s
i used http://www.mp3raid.com/. i tried downloading k'naan 'waving flag', and after a couple of clicks some sites asked me to create a account with them and some asked for a credit card. so i gave up my attempts. i wouldnt recommend this site to customers. some customers will probably find it diffcult to use as u would need to try many links before finding a actual free site with no credit card numbers required.
i think with free mp3 downloading it is easier to find free and legal songs from unknown artists, popular artists are harder to find free songs due to the legal reasons. majority of customers are after whats hot right now, so they maybe not be satisfied with these websites. however for customers interested in boarding their muscial interests these sites will be great. youtube can also be used to download music, nt sure how legal it is thou.

Week 4 : Books and social networking
Goodreads will be great for customers lost in book choices. this way they can read reviews from people with similar taste in books, suggest books to others and discover new authors.
library staff can turn to this website for new display ideas, know where to refer customers who love to share ideas or need help in selecting books for themsevles or friends.
Week 3 : Twitter - micro-blogging at a glance
Twitter is everywhere! movie stars to john key have it, and even the new zealand hearld uses it as a source in articles.
its fairly easy to use, with a couple of clicks u;re all set up and ready to go. its a great tool to keep to date with wats happening in the world around u, with 1 or 2 sentences of quick updates.
however i dnt see myself using twitter to often, one social networking site is enough for me, and at the moments it facebook! even though its soo last year! lol
Manukau Libraries can use twitter to keep customers and staff updated with up coming events, new books and any random infomation concerning the libraries.

Week 2 : Zamzar - converting file formats
Zamzar is pretty awesome and sooo easy to use in 4 simple steps. i think this will be a breeze for staff and customers. ive been asked many times to convert documents or ive been unable to to open documents because of the wrong programmes. i wish i knew about this site before! i see myself using this site again for my own use and library use and will def promote to customers.
